DIALOGUE IN ACTION AT UC DAVIS

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2016
1:30—3:00 PM
International Center
Multipurpose Room

Dialogue is a process of genuine interaction where all participants:

·       Listen deeply, willing to be changed by what they learn;

·       Make serious efforts to take others’ concerns into their own perspectives even when disagreement persists;

·       Maintain their own identities;

·       Recognize enough of the other’s human claims so that they will act differently toward each other.

Come gather with other UCD community members as we explore distinctions among debate, dialogue, and discussion, campus spaces conducive to dialogue, ways our campus community can support and encourage successful dialogue, issues that would benefit from dialogue, and campus community next steps.  No pre-registration required.

WHERE DO YOU STAND?

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2016
4:00—5:00 PM
International Center
Multipurpose Room

Join us for this fun, dynamic program where participants consider their own stance on various issues — big and small — and hear those of others.  There are no right or wrong answers to the questions we’ll consider.

This session is focused on undergraduate, graduate, and professional student participation.  However, the program is open to all members of the campus community.  No pre-registration required.

These programs are convened by Campus Dialogue & Deliberation and will be led by Carolyn Penny, a mediator with 30 years of experience and Director of Campus Dialogue & Deliberation.  Moderators will be UC Davis staff members or students from Sustained Dialogue @ UC Davis.

For questions, contact Trish Nichol at tanichol@ucdavis.edu or 530-754-7741.
