Dr. Daniel P. Gámez is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow in History and American Indian Studies, affiliated with the “Race in the Global Past through Native Lenses” project supported by the Mellon Foundation. He earned his PhD in Geography from the University of British Columbia (Unceded Musqueam Territory) and is a proud first-generation scholar. His research explores Latin American colonialism, racialization, Indigenous sovereignty, and imperial urbanism. Working closely with grassroots organizations in Mexico and across Abya Yala, he examines how urban Indigenous communities transform infrastructures and institutions to assert sovereignty and self-determination.
