Join us for an engaging evening with Dr. Jarvis R. Givens, Professor of Education and African & African American Studies at Harvard University, whose scholarship explores 19th- and 20th-century African American history and the theories of race, power, and schooling that continue to shape our nation.
Dr. Givens will be in conversation with Dr. Lawrence βTorryβ Winn (UC Davis School of Education) to discuss his recent work, including:
- American Grammar: Race, Education, and the Building of a Nation
- I'll Make Me a World: The 100-Year Journey of Black History Month
Doors open at 5:30 PM for a reception with food and beverages.
Guests are welcome to tour the Gorman Museum before and after the program. Includes a book giveaway for students (while supplies last). Additional copies will be available for purchase.
