Come join us to watch the Earthseed documentary, rooted in Octavia Butler's Parable series, with Q&A following with the documentarians.

L&S Community and Inclusive Excellence (CIE) committee invites you to a film screening of EARTH SEED: A People’s Journey of Radical Hospitality.

Rooted in Octavia E. Butler’s Parable series, EARTH SEED explores radical hospitality as a survival practice. This documentary follows a pilgrimage led by People’s Kitchen Collective (PKC) from March to June 2023 across five regions of California, inspired by the journey in Butler’s Parable of the Sower. Along the way, the film highlights individuals and communities building models for survival and a shared future. Join us for this special screening, part of L&S CIE Committee’s initiative to showcase community building and inclusive excellence practices rooted in food culture.

The two-hour screening of EARTH SEED will be followed by conversation with the filmmakers. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided.

EARTH SEED: A People’s Journey of Radical Hospitality is a feature-length documentary by filmmaker Fox Nakai, with executive producer and PKC co-founder Jocelyn Jackson.
