Latino Technical Assistance Provider Team Recognized for Community Impact
As part of the California Reducing Disparities Project, the team supports community organizations working to improve mental health outcomes across the state
The UC Davis School of Medicine recently honored faculty members and interdisciplinary teams with its 2025 Dean’s Excellence Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in education, mentoring, research, clinical care, inclusion and team excellence. Among this year’s recipients was the Latino Technical Assistance Provider team for the California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP), which received the Dean’s Team Award for Inclusive Excellence in Community Engagement for its leadership in advancing culturally responsive mental health services across California.
Based at the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities, the Latino Technical Assistance Provider team serves as one of five Technical Assistance Provider teams supporting the statewide California Reducing Disparities Project. The team provides capacity building, training and implementation support to seven community-based organizations serving Latino communities across multiple California counties, helping partners implement community-defined, culturally and linguistically responsive mental health practices. Their work also contributes to a statewide network of 33 organizations working collaboratively to reduce mental health disparities and improve access to care in historically underserved communities.
The award reflects the School of Medicine’s commitment to recognizing collaborative efforts that create lasting impact beyond the classroom, clinic and laboratory. While this year's Dean’s Excellence Awards celebrated achievements ranging from groundbreaking cancer and dementia research to innovative medical education and multidisciplinary clinical care, the Latino Technical Assistance Provider team exemplifies how meaningful community partnerships can advance health equity and strengthen trust with the communities UC Davis Health serves.
