Empowering Students: Institutional Research and Practice

Minority-Serving Institution Research and Funding

UC Davis' designations as a minority-serving institution (AANAPISI, California BSI and HSI) expands opportunities for faculty across disciplines by increasing access to certain funding programs and strengthening competitiveness for others. These opportunities often emphasize student participation, education, and outreach rather than requiring research focused on specific populations.

Support is available at every stage, from identifying funding opportunities to proposal development and submission.

Proposition 209 and UC Policy

UC Davis’s work related to minority-serving designation complies with Proposition 209 and University of California policy. These efforts focus on expanding access, strengthening student success, and improving institutional practices without granting preferential treatment based on race, ethnicity, or other protected categories.

External Organizations

National organizations and research partners provide data, frameworks, and best practices that inform UC Davis’s work and contribute to broader conversations about student success and institutional responsibility.
