Congratulations to the recipients of the 2026 Chancellor’s Achievement Awards for Inclusive Excellence. These awards honor individuals whose work advances the campus’s Principles of Community through exemplary service, meaningful mentorship, scholarship with broad community impact, outreach in partnership with local communities, and sustained efforts that promote inclusion, understanding and opportunity for all.
Verónica Martínez Cerdeño is being honored with the Distinguished Scholarly Public Service Award by the UC Davis Academic Senate for her exceptional work connecting neuroscience research with meaningful community engagement. As a professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the School of Medicine, CAMPOS scholar, and a member of the MIND Institute, Martínez Cerdeño studies brain development and neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, with an emphasis on ensuring that scientific discovery benefits the communities it aims to serve.
Among the eleven faculty members selected as this year's Hellman Fellows are two from the Center for Advancing Multicultural Perspectives on the Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities (CAMPSSAH):
This new AFD grant, “Dialogues Across Difference: Solutions to Disruptive Speech in the Learning Environment,” will examine a pressing concern and promises to provide some much-needed support for faculty and other instructional staff that face disruptive speech–politically provocative, harassing, or hate speech, including the display of symbols or objects–that adversely affect teaching and learning.
